Do money better with Bó
We built the Bó banking app to help people manage their everyday spending by helping them budget, set goals and track their progress.
But what if I don't want to switch?
You don't have to. Bó is an account for your everyday spending money. So, leave your bills and direct debits in your existing current account and just add your day-to-day money to your Bó account and we can help you spend less and save more.
How do you do that?
We know that splitting your spending money from your bill money, is a tried and tested way to manage it better and once you've opened your Bó account you can use the Bó app to:
- Keep tabs on your spending: Get instant alerts whenever you use your card, so you know what you've spent and where
- Get to know your spending habits: See everything you buy listed by retailer, category, and location
- See how much you can spend: Receive real-time balance updates so you always know how much is in your account
- Feel on top of your money: Create a Spending Budget to help you save towards your goals
- Save little by little: Set a Bó goal and start putting money in your Piggy Bank
- Spend like a local: Experience more abroad with great Visa exchange rates
By helping people manage their everyday spending, develop better money habits and save little by little, we hope we can make a real difference to people's lives.
Can anyone get a Bó account?
If you're 18 or over and a UK tax resident you can open a Bó account. However, if you also pay tax in another country, you won't be eligible. You'll also need an iPhone on iOS 10 (or later) or Android phone with 6.0 Marshmallow or above.
Does Bó have fees?
You can make cash withdrawals from ATMs in the UK, EU or anywhere else in the world free of charge when you use Bó. However, you may be charged by the cash machine's operator.
If you lose or damage your card, we'll replace it free of charge the first two times. But if you lose or damage it again before it naturally expires, we'll charge you £5 each time to replace it.
If your card is stolen or you need the name changed (e.g. if you get married), we'll always send you a new card free of charge.
Why are you called Bó?
We like the way it sounds. It's a name that's warm and friendly, gentle even. We also like it because Bó doesn't mean anything in English so it's a word that we can own, that will grow with us and become associated with what we're trying to do.
What's the accent on your o?
The acute accent over our o is called a fada and it turns an 'o' into an 'oh' sound. You pronounce Bó the same way you would go, low, yo! mow, row and dough!
We love our fada. It's unique, changes how we look and how we sound, but you don't have to use it! You can find us without typing it in. If you're looking for us online, you'll find us if you type Bó or Bo or even bó or bo into the App Store or on Google Play. We'll also pop up if you Google Bó, Bo, bo or bó.
Try it and see! If you want to find out more about our name and how to create a fada then read this.
Why did you set up Bó?
We know a lot of people in the UK struggle when it comes to managing their money. We're not taught how to do it well and it's something that most people find boring, intimidating and don't think they're any good at. Or could be good at. We want to change that. By helping people manage their everyday spending, develop better money habits and save little by little, we hope we can make a real difference to people's lives.
