How to add money to your Bó account

The best way to get the most out of your Bó account is to use it for your everyday spending, and for that, you'll need to make sure you've added money and activated your account.

Once you’ve figured out how much spending money you should be transferring over to Bó each month, you just need to know how to do it!

We’ve made it so that adding money to Bó from another bank account is super easy and, best of all, free!

It’s also quick! Bó, like most other banks in the UK, is part of the faster payments scheme. This means that any bank included has reduced payments between customers’ bank accounts from the old time of 3 working days to (typically) just a few seconds.

Once you’ve activated your card in-app, you need to make a chip & PIN transaction to complete the activation process, but to do that you’ll have to add some money. Here’s how:

  1. Head to the add money screen (via the plus sign in the top right corner of your app)
  2. Make a note of your account details (tapping the account details copies them to your clipboard)
  3. Go to your main bank account and add your Bó account details as a new payee
  4. Transfer over the spending money amount you figured out previously
  5. Start using Bó to spend less and save more!

Once you’ve transferred money over to Bó, you should receive one of our instant Spend Alerts to let you know that it has arrived.

Why not set up a standing order from your main bank account on payday every month so that you know you’re starting off on the right foot by splitting out your bills and your spending money?

Also if anyone owes you money all you have to do is give them the same details you just used so they can pay you back directly in to Bó.

You must be 18 or over and a UK tax resident to be eligible for a Bó account. You’ll also need an iPhone on iOS 10 (or later) or an Android phone with 6.0 Marshmallow or above.
