Meet James Boughey, Bó's Head of Customer Service. Learn how we support our customers, why leftovers make the best lunches, how working at Bó has helped James 'do money better' and all we do to support our customers.

Hi James! So, you're out with a mate, how would you describe Bó?

Bó is your financially savvy, cheerful friend in the shape of an app, that will improve your financial wellbeing and help you save more.

How long have you been with Bó?

Almost seven months but it feels like I've always been a part of the family.

Where were you before Bó?

I have been working for NatWest for eight years, always in customer-centric roles. Most recently I led the 24-hour social media customer support team at NatWest which works across Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google Play store reviews as well as some webchat and in-app messaging - basically helping customers, whenever they need it. I wanted to take the skills I had learnt at NatWest and use them to launch Bó.

Bó has transformed the way I not only think but act with money. It has helped me make smarter choices about my everyday spending without me feeling guilty about treating myself when I can.

Tell me a little about what you do at Bó?

Every day is different for me at Bó and that is what I enjoy. I look after two separate customer support teams in Manchester and London.

When it comes to that moment when a customer needs help, I want to create a welcoming environment so that people feel comfortable discussing anything they need help with in connection with their account. This means making sure that people can get in touch with us however they want whether it's via in-app messaging, Twitter, Facebook or email.

My role sits within the product team at Bó which means one of my key responsibilities to collate customer feedback and use this to help prioritise what we should next build as a team.

What do you like about your job?

Everyone I work with at Bó is here because we believe that Bó really can help people 'do money better'. Our social purpose is what attracted me and is what motivated me every day.

What does your average lunch at work look like?

I do my best to bring my own lunch to work which is usually leftovers from dinner I cooked the night before.

Has working at Bó changed your attitude to money?

Bó has transformed the way I not only think but act with money. It has helped me make smarter choices about my everyday spending without me feeling guilty about treating myself when I can. It has also helped me save more than I expected without having to really think about it and I use this money usually as my holiday spending money.
